Belonging

I didn’t become an architect because I NECESSARILY wanted to design buildings.

I became an architect because I was fascinated by places.

As a kid, I built tree forts, hidden spaces in the woods, and rooms from blankets.

Looking back, I wasn’t building structures.

I was creating places where life could happen.

Architecture gave that instinct a craft.

For nearly thirty years I’ve been helping people transform homes, additions, and landscapes into places that support the lives they want to live.

Along the way I realized something important.

People rarely come to me because they want a house.

They come because they want something the house represents.

A quieter life.

A place where family gathers.

Morning light in the kitchen.

A stronger connection to nature.

A home that finally feels like theirs.

The building isn’t the destination.

It’s the expression of something deeper.

Every project begins with listening.

Not just to people.

To place.

I want to understand how you hope to live.

I want to understand what makes your place unique.

The existing home.

The land.

The views.

The neighborhood.

The light.

The wind.

The memories already rooted there.

The best homes grow from the relationship between people and place.

My role is to discover that relationship—and give it form through architecture.

When I’m not designing homes, you’ll usually find me outdoors—with my children, swimming, skiing, riding my bike, or simply paying attention to beautiful places and asking why they feel the way they do.

Those questions never really stop.

They’re part of how I live.

And they’re part of how I design.
