drawn to simplicity

This project began with a different kind of hope:

Not to build more. To build better. The goal wasn’t excess or complexity. It was to create a home that felt honest, timeless, and deeply connected to the landscape. A place where every space had a purpose and every detail contributed to the experience of living there.

The Design

The modern barn has always fascinated me because it proves that simplicity is anything but simple. Every proportion matters. Every window has a purpose. Every material is chosen carefully. Rather than relying on ornament, the design finds its beauty in light, craftsmanship, and restraint. The home takes cues from the agricultural buildings that have shaped this landscape for generations while expressing them in a contemporary way.

The result is architecture that feels both familiar and new.

Looking Back

One of the things I appreciate most about simple buildings is that they don’t ask for attention. They quietly become part of the landscape. Over time, they weather gracefully, adapt to the changing seasons, and allow the people living inside to become the focus rather than the building itself. For me, that’s one of the highest goals of architecture. Not to impress.
